The Skirmish at Piccadilly Circus occurred when Luther tracks down serial killer David Robey and confronts him however the police attempt to arrest them and fail,Robey causes chaos with his blackmailed victims.
Background[]
Following his escape from prison, Luther is able to track down where the radio broadcast came from.Luther arrives at a building where he meets Derek Standish and introduces himself,Luther says he is police and he asks Standish if he knows him.
Standish says he doesn’t and Luther say then why did he broadcast a murder to him,Standish then runs off with Luther in pursuit.They though a building however Standish attempts to escape but fails,Luther then begins to question him.
Luther threatens Standish and he reveals where the radio is,Luther attempts to tattoo Standish’s eyeball but realises that Standish will reveal anything he knows.Luther is able to get a phone from Derek which he can use to track the serial killer,Luther is able to escape before Woodward and a police unit arrive.
Skirmish[]
Some time later Luther informs Martin Schenk that he has a lead on the killer and he only has the number for 24 hours,Later Schenk discusses the same issue with Raine and Woodward.The police are able to track the number to Piccadilly Circus,Raine and a police unit travel to the scene.
Eventually Luther arrives at the location and approaches a group of women and asks one of them to borrow a phone,One of them gives Luther a phone.Luther phones Schenk and asks him where the killer is,Schenk informs him that the mysterious killer has been stationary for 20 minutes.Luther then gives the phone back and continues to the centre,The police continue tracking Luther and the killer.
Luther arrives at the centre also with Raine and her unit closing in,Luther approaches the centre of Piccadilly Circus and searches for the killer.He then phones the number for the killer and a man who was sitting down with his hood up and answers.The man asks who phoned him and replies he knows who he is,The man then takes a nearby tourist hostage with a knife to his neck.Luther demands the killer let the innocent man go who the killer refuses.The police begin to move in to arrest Luther and the killer.
The killer then repeatedly says “bong” suddenly the killer’s blackmailed victims jump off nearby buildings,Killing themselves.More of the killer’s victims crash cars into the crowds causing several deaths and injuries.The police attempt to arrest Luther but are distracted by the chaos,Ultimately allowing the killer to let the civilian go and escape to the underground with Luther in pursuit.
Luther chase the killer however briefly loses him but spots him running onto the tracks,Luther continues to pursue him though a series of tunnels eventually leading them to an abandoned platform.Meanwhile several armed police officers close in.Luther enters the platform and wonders around trying to find the killer.Suddenly the killer ambushes him with a knife,The two fight with Luther getting slashed.
A few minutes later an armed police officers arrives and attempts to arrest Luther however Luther says he should arrest the killer first but the officer knocks Luther down,Thus allowing the killer to stab the officer in the leg injuring him and escape.The police officer begins to bleed out,Luther attempts to give him medical attention.Another officer arrives to help,The injured officer says his name is Jamal and he had previously worked with Luther on a case involving serial killer Cameron Pell.The officers urge Luther to pursue the killer,Luther then leaves the scene.
Aftermath[]
At the police headquarters Woodward receives a call from the killer,Robey.Robey says he thought Luther was in prison,He says for Woodward to deal with Luther or the reason he is being blackmailed would come to light. Robey then prepares his jeep and phones up Arkady his henchman and asks him if anything is ready which Arkady say the website is up and running with viewers coming in numbers.Robey then says he will be there soon he just needs to pick one extra thing up.
Meanwhile Luther takes shelter in an abandoned building and attempts to patch up his wounds,He then phones Schenk.Schenk answers with Raine and Woodward present they discuss the killer and Luther figures out that the killer has been blackmailing people.Raine traces the call and tracks Luther however he leaves before the police arrive.
