Dennis Sorrel is a fictional character mentioned in Luther.
Dennis was a police officer in the Metropolitan Police Service. He held the rank of police constable. He attempted to arrest Terry Lynch, a drunk former soldier, but was killed in the process. Terry was arrested and sentenced to serve life in prison with no chance of parole.
Terry's arrest and imprisonment eventually led to the deaths of roughly ten other officers, as Terry's son, Owen Lynch, went on a killing spree directed towards police officers in an attempt to have his father released.
