The breakout of John Luther was when the former DCI is rescued by Dennis McCabe, Following a message from the serial killer Luther was investigating before his arrest.
Background[]
David Robey digs up dirt on Luther ultimately leading to Luther’s arrest.Whilst in prison ,Luther is subjected to abuse by fellow inmates due to him being a former police detective.
Sometime later while in his prison cell Luther receives a letter with some numbers on it,Luther realises that it’s to tune his radio.Luther tunes his radio to the station and discovers to his horror that it is a recording of Callum Aldrich being tortured and the mysterious man who kidnapped him,Teasing and taunting him.
A few hours later Luther receives a visit from Corinne Aldrich, She criticises him for failing to find her son,Luther is further convinced to escape and pursue Callum’s kidnapper.Later Luther phones up DCI Odette Raine who is assigned to Callum’s case.Luther warns her that the killer is intelligent but she ignores him and states he shouldn’t phone her again.
Some time later Luther contacts criminal associate Dennis McCabe and informs him he pursuing a serial killer and eventually convicts him to help.Luther makes plans with prison guards who are allies,To be transferred from the prison.They realise the best way to escape is by starting a prison riot.
A prisoner causes a distraction by pretending to hang himself,The prison guards attend but the prisoner knocks them out and proceeds to release several other prisoners.Some of the prisoners attempt to attack Luther in his cell but he blocks the door with his bed however they light the area near the door on fire,Luther is able to escape and battles several other prisoners however the prisoner guards are able to contain the riot and Luther is taken away.
Breakout[]
Some time later Luther is place into a prison van,Ready for transfer.Whlist the van is driving down a road,A van emerges from the dark and suddenly stops in front of the prisoner transport.Several armed men surround the van and knock unconscious the driver and break into the van and force the guard at gun point to unlock Luther’s prison door,They then knock unconscious the guard and successfully break Luther restrains.
The men and Luther then get into the other van and make a speedy getaway.While in the van one of the men reveals himself to be McCabe,Who jokingly says boo making Luther laugh due to their success.
Aftermath[]
Some time later Luther,McCabe and his guys arrive at a lockup.At the lockup McCade has stored Luther’s car, clothes and other personal possessions.McCade gives Luther anything he requested to take down the serial killer,McCabe tells Luther to damage the killer.
