Anya Raine is a character in the 2023 crime thriller Luther: The Fallen Sun.
She is the daughter of DCI Odette Raine, she is kidnapped by serial killer David Robey
Biography[]
Anya is in bed when she receives a phone call from her mum Odette who questions If she’d been in bed all day, Which she had. Her mum says she can’t drive her for something presumably an exam. Her mum also says she would get salty if the kitchen was left in a mess. Anya gets out of bed and goes into the kitchen where she hears a male voice calling her name.
Anya, unsure who is calling looks around the house and discovers it’s coming from a speaker in her room. Anya becomes terrified and attempts to leave the house but is ambushed by Robey who can successfully capture her.
Robey then takes her to his jeep to transport her to his lair, Along the way he phones Arya’s mum up to taunt her and warn her. Eventually, they reach the port of Dover and leave England for Norway where Robey’s base of operations is.
At some point while at Robey's base, Anya is made to change some of her clothes so Robey can trick her mum with Anna’s clothes on another body that closely resembles Anya herself.
Later on, Anya is tied up ready to be tortured, Robey can Capture John Luther and Odette, Anya’s mum. Robey has Odette brought into the room where Luther is chained to a chair and Anya is. Robey gets Arkady his henchman to suffocate Anya with a plastic bag and Robey says to Odette she can stop it by saying please which she does, Robey signals Arkady to stop.
Robey then gets Odette to stab Luther but she refuses, so Anya is suffocated again but Odette gets Robey to stop. Anya begs her mum not to stab him, However, Odette then stabs Luther much to Robey’s and his audience’s excitement. Robey then asks Luther to shatter Odette’s kneecap with a hammer however he refuses leading to Anya being suffocated again. Luther then tells the audience they are being traced ultimately this makes them leave, Angering Robey. Luther can kill another henchman Nilsson with the hammer, Robey then makes his escape and shuts the door but Luther then frees Odette and pursues Robey and successfully goes through the door in time.
Odette then goes to her daughter and frees her, The room begins to fill with fuel and Anya attempts to turn the fuel off via a valve meanwhile Odette battles Arkady and successfully knocks him down however he gets back up but is soaked in fuel. Arkady attempts to attack Anya and Mum but the room is ignited and he is consumed by the flames killing him, Odette and Anya use a hose to put out some of the flames, Eventually, Luther can turn off the fuel and open the door after taking the controls for the room from Robey.
Some time later the emergency services arrive and rescue everyone, including Anya, Odette and Luther. Anya receives medical attention from the paramedics.

Anya and her Mother are to have a good relationship and to be very close. when she is kidnapped Odette threatens to kill Robey suggesting that she deeply cares for her daughter. During the torture scene, they become even closer due to a fight for survival and help each other to attempt to put out the fire.
Personally[]
Anya Raine is shown to a fairly messy and disorganised due to her sleeping a lot of the day, However she is shown to be intelligent due to her being a student but it is unknown what she is studying, During the torture scene she insults Robey several times also she is shown begging her mum not to stab Luther despite if he didn’t she would suffer suggesting that she doesn’t want anyone to suffer because of her. She is shown not be able to fight because went her mother is being attacked by Arkady she doesn’t attempt to attack him at all.
