Watching the arrest in the interrogation of DCI Luther, I just got angry. This is such a great show, great drama, good plot, lots of action. But then it just began deteriorating. Going back to S2, DS Gray was a very poor, and extremely inexperienced detective, so why would they promote her? They bring in RETIRED DSU Stark, which would never happen, team him and Gray together, to take down the cop that Gray has a bad write up in her personnel file for trying to smear him. In S3, Stark hands over CONFIDENTIAL police files to a civilian in order to mess up Luther's romance. He also breaks into Luther's apartment WITH Gray, who's character is supposed to be a by-the-book type cop.
Instead of working in an office, they're in some little hole-in-the-wall back-room of a dry cleaner / Chinese restaurant or something.
The idiotic flimsy case they were trying to build to arrest Luther for the murder of DS Ripley (horrid surprise, I liked him😥), absolutely would not have passed a review from their superiors, no prosecutor would have even touched it. The "evidence" they were throwing at him during their little interrogation, was completely laughable. Fortunately, DCI Luther survives this, but it was absolutely ridiculous, and horrible writing. It was a real let down from the previous three series. It's fiction, it's not real, but still I expected better.
